The blessing of the site and the contract signing of the deed of donation was attended by Porac Municipality Mayor Carling Dela Cruz, members of the DLSP Institutions led by DLSP President Bro. Armin Luistro FSC, and the Alviera project team.
Ayala Land and Leonio Land recently turned over to De La Salle Philippines the deed of donation for a 24-hectare parcel on which the La Salle Botanical Gardens will be built.
“The La Salle Botanical Gardens is our gift to the next generation. It’s our way of telling them what we can do to restore biodiversity in the Philippines,” said Br. Dennis M. Magbanua FSC, President of De La Salle Philippines,
Envisioned to be world-class, the project draws inspiration from internationally renowned botanical gardens, and will feature a collection of at least 25 themed gardens.
As a center of plant research, the project will also house a plant nursery, a laboratory, an herbarium and in the future, a seed bank to house indigenous and native species.
The gardens will also be a recreational venue for students, families, and tourists, with complementary facilities that include hiking trails, camp sites and exhibitions, to inspire sustainable tourism, as well as progressive learning through discovery.
“This project syncs perfectly with Alviera’s vision of urban living in nature. The Botanical Garden shall be the center piece of Alviera’s Greenbelt – a 5 km long green open space for everyone to enjoy,” Alviera General Manager, John Estacio said.
The first phase of the De La Salle Botanical Gardens is set to open in 2020
